As the U.S. population continues to age overall, many people are beginning to wonder if their current communities are still a good fit for them as retirement grows near. Just recently, AARP released a new online tool which grades every neighborhood in the U.S. based on a number of important criteria, making it easier for aging Americans to think about where they should retire.
This isn’t another one of those “top ten places to retire” lists that already flood the web, but a realistic ranking system that offers thoughtful analysis of places to retire based on a number of different factors. These factors include: affordability, health care, public safety, public transportation, education and culture. Simply type in any address and the tool will calculate a score from 0-100 based on seven different attributes: housing, neighborhood, transportation, environment, health, civic engagement, and opportunity.
